Accessibility statement

We want everyone who works in or around a school to be able to use this site, including people using screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or older hardware on a slow connection.

The standard we build to

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) at Level AA. In practice that means:

  • Pages use real headings, landmarks, and lists, so a screen reader can move through them by structure.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline, and a skip link to the main content on every page.
  • Body text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and form borders and meaningful graphics at least 3:1.
  • Every form field has a label, and errors are announced, not only shown in color.
  • Results in the exercise are stated in words, not signaled by color alone.
  • Motion is limited to small color and position changes and a loading indicator on form buttons, and is switched off if your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Text can be resized to 200 percent without loss of content.

Known limitations

  • Our logo mark becomes hard to read at very small sizes. It is decorative wherever the organization's name also appears in text.

This statement is based on our own review against WCAG 2.1 AA. We have not yet had the site audited by an outside party.

Report a barrier

If something on this site does not work for you, tell us. Include the page address and what happened, and the device or assistive technology you were using if you can. We will reply and, where we can, send you the content in another format while we fix it.
